Unlike conventional plastics, silicone is not made from petroleum, but from silicon, which is extracted from sources such as sand, as well as oxygen, carbon, and hydrogen. No fossil raw materials are required for its production.
Pure silicone is non-toxic according to current scientific knowledge. Unlike most plastics, it also contains no plasticizers, withstands very high and low temperatures, is tear-resistant, UV-resistant, water-repellent, and durable. Therefore, high-quality silicone is also used in the medical field, for example, for prostheses and implants, or even contact lenses. Due to its long lifespan, silicone offers perfect properties for long-term and sustainable use.
Silicone is fully recyclable, as it completely decomposes into sand (silicon oxide) when burned.
