Kitchen Tools for Prep Work
Before you start cooking, you need to prep your ingredients—and that requires different tools than those used for cooking in a pot. Cutting and peeling fruits and vegetables calls for a sharp knife and a sturdy cutting surface. The folding cutting board has raised edges and can be folded down to transfer ingredients, so that cut ingredients go straight into the pot instead of onto the countertop. You’ll find more kitchen tools for prep work—from peelers to cutting mats—under Cutting Boards.
Cooking Utensils with a Stainless Steel Core
At the stove, it’s important for a utensil to be both flexible and sturdy. That’s why our spoons, spatulas, and tongs are made of food-safe silicone with a stainless steel core inside. The silicone conforms to the shape of the pot, the core prevents the handle from bending when handling heavy batters, and because silicone is softer than metal, these cooking utensils won’t scratch nonstick pans and pots. The full selection of spatulas and spoons can be found under Cooking Spoons and Spatulas, and tongs for gripping and serving under Kitchen Tongs.
Kochblume Boil-Over Protection
The Kochblume Boil-Over Protection is the brand’s eponymous invention. The silicone lid rests on the rim of the pot and prevents pasta water or milk from boiling over; at the same time, it acts as a splash guard and can be used for steam cooking. Because less liquid boils away, energy consumption during cooking is also reduced.
Knives to Complement the Kitchen Utensils
In addition to the silicone tools, we carry knives with stainless steel blades, ranging from the chef’s knife for everyday use to the Santoku knife for even slices. The handles are available in the same colors as the rest of the kitchen utensils, so knives and silicone tools can be combined into a cohesive set.
Kitchen Utensils for Serving and Storage
Once cooking is done, it’s time to set the table—and we have the right tools for that, too. The utensil holder sits next to the stove and keeps cooking spoons and spatulas within easy reach, instead of letting them pile up in a drawer. You’ll find more kitchen utensils for serving, portioning, and keeping your kitchen organized under Kitchen Accessories and Organization.
Kitchen Utensil Sets
If you need multiple utensils at once, buying a set is more cost-effective than purchasing them individually. The Kochblume Starter Set contains the basics and is ideal for a first home or as a gift; the Junior Kitchen Utensil Set features shorter handles designed for smaller hands. All other combinations can be found under Sets and Bundles.
Silicone as a Material for Cooking Utensils
The material determines how long a kitchen tool will last and what it can withstand. Our silicone is food-safe, BPA-free, and odorless and can withstand temperatures up to 260 °C, whereas conventional plastic softens when exposed to heat or becomes brittle over time. All products are dishwasher-safe. We explain the detailed comparison between the two materials under Silicone vs. Plastic.
